A Thought at Christmas.
Christmas, commercialised beyond belief.
Making many wanting what no one really needs and many spend what they cannot afford!
Giving for gratification and approval when more frugal giving would more than suffice.
So many with so many real needs on this world, and the only guarantees are that for all the spending there will be precious few of those in the greatest need benefiting.
So, please, spare a though, as you feast, of the hunger suffered, and as you drink, of those that have no clean water to sustain their unhappy existence.
Christmas does not happen for them!

IMG_350D_20131207_3548e Lucam Lodge
Finally, at long last, Lucam Lodge has a new coat and is looking very much as pretty as the proverbial picture!
A few more repairs and, one never knows, but Genesis Housing Association might, just might, get it's act together and finally get to sell the two ex-staff flats.....then again????

Remeberance.
Remembrance parades today.
Always gets me thinking of the 'old soldier' in my life, my Dad!
When World War 2 erupted he very quickly volunteered, as did so many others, and joined the Norfolk Yeomanry which was, in time, absorbed into the Royal Artillery.
As a member of a mobile gun crew he was sent to north Africa, joining the 8th. Army in time for the Battle of El Alamein.
After pushing Rommel out of the desert he and his crew moved on to Italy and Monti Casino, where he could remember fighting, but he must have suffered traumatically because he has no memory of being repatriated back to the United Kingdom, but he did recall being a part of the D-Day +3 assault on Europe, and his travels continued all the way into Germany.
Dad survived all that. He had his memories, he had his tales to tell, but, for the next sixty odd years, preferred not to tell them!
He would tell us of his youth, sing music hall ditties, in fact he was the life and soul of any party, just as long as nobody talked of WAR!
He must have held so many horrors to himself, just as so many others must have done, and as so many are doing so today!
Many have paid...so many are still paying!
Let us not forget!

End of a Long Wait!
So, at long last, it begins!
We are getting our facelift at Lucam Lodge! Or at least the scaffolding is in place for the beautifications.
Now an estimated seven weeks of a very much darkened apartment, (never was too bright in here before this!) and already we have cribs about the colour scheme, despite there having been a ballot of the leaseholders, then I know we will have endless discussions about what it has all cost.
My only crib is that I returned from my tropical sojourn far too damn soon!

..Having Been Away…
..Having Been Away…
Just returned from the best holiday I never
imagined I could have ever!
The place I wanted to be, Chiang Mai,
Thailand. With the family I see too little of, with friends I was beginning to
believe I would never meet, now so happy I have now done so, and making so many
new friends among the local Thai community.
I am surely going to miss you all, but not for
any longer than I have to. Despite my age, in spite of my increasingly limiting
physical capabilities, I will, just like Rambo, be back!
On previous visits to Chiang Mai I have stayed
with my nephew’s family out in the sticks, always taken very good care of and
always well provided for, and even having a small bungalow with all ‘mod cons’ built
for me. Every effort made to ensure my comfort, and, in more recent years,
transport due to my no longer being able to drive myself.
No complaints, not from me. Very happy.
But for his visit I elected to stay in a hotel in
Chiang Mai, not from any discontent with previous arrangements but with a
compelling desire to enjoy some of the pleasures already mentioned. I had every
intention of spending at least a week or two at Doilo, but, as it transpired,
my time was far too limited, my friends too many, my freedom to do all I wanted
when I wanted to exceeded my greatest expectations.
I do not think my nephew and his family cannot
forgive my selfishness, but, it appears they do have some kind of misunderstanding,
despite my promise to stay with them on my next trip, and, sad to say, and, sadly, they do
have some familial problems that I, as an extremely inept foreign speaker of the
Thai language, I feel can be of no positive use to them. I am sorry!
I also very much regret the division that has developed within the family. Life is too short for bitterness,
especially bitterness that has been nurtured over more than twenty years! What
is done is done. None of us can ever go back and undo all that has been done.
Please, forget the past, dispel the
bitterness, loose your pride, and find the love of the family once more.
You will all find it more supportive and
much more fun!
Thank you, every one of you, for having made
me so welcome again, the love you give me is truly incredible, totally unforgettable.
Thank You Everyone.

Disheartened, Sickened, and Generally P’d Off!
Why do those pea brained numbskulls do it!
Yes, Pete is hacked off again, having had my name stolen and used
yet again by dim witted trolls in another attempt to guide my friends and
family to web sites that no one with half an iota of sense would ever have any
interest in!
They cannot gain anything from it. Too frightened to even emerge
far enough to gain an ounce of kudos, their crappy websites certainly not
earning any cash, not being worth even the effort of clicking a mouse occasionally!
In attempting to gain attention they do more damage than enough,
turning friend against friend with undesirable links to pages that do not carry
sufficient interest of their own, causing families to question the mental stability
of their distant relatives, and destroying the future of communication between
those isolated through age, infirmity or international borders, in short,
fouling lives big time!
Yes folks, PETE is P****D OFF!!!
